Okay...normally I'm a pretty cool chick. I've got friends of all colors, and I understand that every now and again everyone can slip into an improper characterization of someone of another background. But hell...when I do it...I own up to what I did. Yeah I said that...and it was wrong...and I'm sorry. But to say something extremely blatant and then have the audacity to insult my intelligence and state your "words were taken out of context." Give me a big EFFIN' break.
What am I talking about you ask? Well I am talking about the email sent by Officer Justin Barrett of the Boston Police. Now as I stated, I understand we all make mistakes when we are a little fired up, but calling a black man a "jungle monkey" on FOUR separate occasions in one email is more than a mere mistake. So Officer Barrett, that bullshit apology you gave....KEEP IT!! And even more keep the ever so typical "I have Black friends so I couldn't be racist" crap to yourself also. You called the man a "jungle monkey" and also said "banana eating"...so that whole "my words were taken out of context" shit is just that...SHIT. And hey lawyer guy...as a future attorney myself, I understand standing up for your client but for you FOOLS ever choose to insult my intelligence with your crap is beyond offensive. "Officer Barrett did not call professor Gates a jungle monkey or malign him racially," Marano said. "He said his behavior was like that of one. It was a characterization of the actions of that man." Guess what dumbasses...characterizations are the basis of racial epithets such as that. People weren't saying Black people were literally monkeys...they were saying they looked like them, walked like them, ate like them, acted like them. Guess what that is....a fucking CHARACTERIZATION!! I'm sorry for the language but this seriously pisses me off. Officer Barrett I might have considered taking your apology on its face value, however that crap you and your attorney pulled totally ruins that idea. You are a sad representation of what the "Blue Brass" is all about...you are a poor excuse for an officer and the reason Henry Louis Gates felt threatened by the presence of police officers in HIS home. All you cops out there...thank Officer Barrett for continuing the tradition of arrogant, ignorant men in power...no matter what color they are.
